One gripe I had with the demo was the performance, and thankfully that area is hugely improved. The game revels in the gory, and certain weapons or modifiers lead to bodies being utterly destroyed in a cartoony explosion of body parts. The voxel-based blocky art style leads to levels being literally painted red after only a few seconds. It all leads to all-out warfare as you come to understand the game’s title. You can block, kick, jump, and more and the various modes feature incredibly powerful firearms occasionally. Your main attack is on the right bumper, throwing weapons is on the right trigger. Rounding things out is an all-out arena brawl with progressively harder waves of enemies who want nothing more than to kill you and each other.Ĭontrols are simple but get the job done. Thankfully you can save at the start of each dungeon and pick things up later if need be. “Beneath” is next and it’s a full-on dungeon crawler with permanent upgrades, various classes to play as, and a surprisingly long time on each run. The main one has you try to take out every NPC as quickly as possible, with various modifiers available to spice things up.

How does it hold up and is it worth its $20 US price point? Let us find out. Your objective is to cause a ruckus wherever you choose to spawn in, and then take out every NPC as quickly as you can.
#PAINT THE TOWN RED GAME DEMO FULL#
With the full game in hand thanks to a review code from Developer and Publisher South East Games it still very much is that game with more areas to fight in. It caught my eye after a fun but brief demo during E3.
#PAINT THE TOWN RED GAME DEMO UPDATE#
Some of your enemies have weapons that just don't compare to the ones you have, but you can update along the way.Paint the Town Red was released on July 29 th, 2021. This is when the game can become annoying because it seems that you're always restarting the levels when you get about halfway through the game. If you aren't fast enough to kill enough people, then you have to restart the level. It's sometimes best to hit your enemy before you see him as this can give you a head start on the defeat. It's a first-person game with your arms and weapon in front of you, making it a little more difficult to see what you're shooting at, but you can sometimes see farther distances as well. You do need to have good reflexes as there are enemies that seem to hide around every corner. You can compare the graphics to a game that is like Minecraft. It seems graphic, but with the computerized design, it's more like pixels instead of a splash of blood on the screen. All you have to do is shoot, stab, or hit people in order to get as much of the screen as red as possible. The idea of the game is about as simple as you can get. This can be confusing as you get used to one weapon and then have to start using another one in a different era. There are various weapons to use with each time period. The graphics are a little odd as the enemies look more like robots than people however, it's a fun game that takes you to different time periods. If you're looking for an action-packed combat game, then consider Paint the Town Red. Take down the enemy in one of many locations and time periods while playing Paint the Town Red.
