Conversely, LatAm Spanish is the type of Spanish spoken liter. Add something like Anki into the equation to further re-enforce new vocabulary and you will be miles ahead of most language learners, IMO.This is a new project. If you go through one of the Glossika courses and are diligent about practicing every day and speaking the sentences aloud you will make incredible progress. I'm sure he saw and experienced the benefits that "training" sentences had in the FSI courses and subsequently developed a whole method of language learning around that concept. To me, what Mike has done is basically created a version of FSI on steroids with the addition of no unnecessary information. FSI would "train" you on these sentences until you could get them out of your mouth fluently without thinking too much. The best part about FSI was that each module would introduce new sentences that contained new grammar structures and vocabulary. Because of this, I began my Mandarin studies by completing the whole FSI Chinese course, and subsequently developed pretty fluent, albeit basic, Mandarin. Some of you may not remember this, but Mike was a huge supporter of using FSI courses for language learning. I have been following Mike Campbell since the days when he had an awesome youtube channel with tons of videos about language learning, life in Taiwan, Chinese, Taiwanese, etc.
And every English sentence that uses "to pretend" is translated using the verb pretender which is the Number 1 "false friend" everyone learns. 572 translates "the party last night" to "a festa da noite".
Sentence 524 has no verb, 552 is printed as "as onde de manha" and it should be "às onze da manha". I've found issues where the source language will be in one tense and the Portuguese in another, the source language will say he and the Portuguese will say ella (she). Actually, I'd say it's potentially a detriment to learning Portuguese. I've only seen parts but I found enough mistakes in translation that it's next to worthless for anyone. Now the PT-Br course on the other hand needs to be redone completely. I expect that I'll be given new version of the Italian course when it's published, as well, so that's a good thing. A student at the A2 level should not have to worry about those kinds of things. The problem is I spent an hour on this sentence trying to figure it out before I accepted it as an error. Neither a true statement nor a correct translation of the English. The only serious error I recall finding was There were some issues but it seems like most of the complaints were in regard to the accent of the person doing the recording (strong norther accent with erre moscia). Their Italian course received so much criticism due to errors it was pulled. I have seen no evidence for the existence of editorial review as too many stupid errors get published. This means that each course is completely in the hands of the translators. Their quality control method is basically this: do the best we can wait for complaints from users. Your claim above must be taken on a language by language basis.
I have purchased 3 Glossika courses and have plans on purchasing more. Glossika is great, because it's tons of content in natural, register-appropriate language
